Heat, rain, and St. Augustine

Eastern Palm Beach County runs a year-round growing season. That sounds like an advantage until you live with it. Weeds keep germinating. Heavy summer rain leaches nutrients out of sandy soil, so a lawn that looked fed in March can look hungry by August. Put fertilizer down at the wrong time, or put down too much, and you do more harm than good. That is why lawn treatment here is a recurring program, not a one-and-done spray.

The grasses we treat are the ones actually growing between Boca and Jupiter: St. Augustine, Zoysia, and Bahia. St. Augustine is the default on a lot of these lots, and it is the one that browns in patches when chinch bugs and fungus hit during the hot, wet months. Those patches are not a mowing problem. They are a timing problem. Most lawns sit on a schedule of every one to two months so treatment stays ahead of weeds, insects, and disease instead of chasing brown turf after it shows.

What the lawn program covers:

  • Seasonal fertilization
  • Pre- and post-emergent weed control
  • Chinch bug and other lawn-pest treatment
  • Fungus and disease control
  • Soil and nutrient balancing
  • Ongoing lawn-health monitoring

The house has the same climate problem

Warmth and humidity do not stop at the slab. Ants, roaches, spiders, mosquitoes, and rodents stay active all year, which is why a single spray resets the clock instead of ending the problem. Pest control is interior and exterior, on a monthly or quarterly plan, with targeted work when a specific pest shows up.

Pests we control include:

  • Ants, including ghost ants and big-headed ants
  • German and American roaches
  • Spiders and scorpions
  • Mosquitoes
  • Rats and mice
  • Occasional invaders and seasonal pests

Mosquito control is its own track because a patio in this county is unusable for long stretches if you skip it. Recurring barrier sprays, adult knockdown, larvae and breeding-site treatment, standing-water and source reduction, plus yard, patio, and landscape coverage. Hosting a wedding or a party? Ask about a one-time treatment before the event. No honest company promises zero mosquitoes outdoors. Recurring work is how the count drops enough that you can sit outside again. Barrier visits are typically monthly through mosquito season, which is most of the year here.

Termite treatment is not optional curiosity in South Florida. The climate supports aggressive subterranean termites that come up from the soil and drywood termites that live inside the wood, so a house here takes pressure from more than one direction. Termites work quietly. By the time wood sounds hollow, the repair is already large. We inspect, the inspection is free, treat both kinds, respond to swarms and active infestations, and do preventive protection plus real-estate and pre-purchase inspections. Swarmers, discarded wings, mud tubes on a foundation or wall, hollow-sounding wood: any of those is a reason to call (561) 220-1168 for a termite evaluation.

Rats and mice in an attic or garage get exclusion and control so they do not keep coming back through the same gap. Iguana removal is on the books for canal-front and waterfront lots: humane trapping, burrow location and filling, landscape deterrents, and monitoring so the next iguana down the canal does not move in. Burrows under seawalls, docks, pool decks, and sidewalks are a structural problem, not a garden novelty. Major structural repairs get referred to the right specialist; the job on our side is removal, burrows, and keeping them off the property.

On a typical stop you will see some mix of lawn fertilization, shrub and tree care, exterior pest work, interior treatment, patio and lanai coverage, and termite work, whatever that property actually needs.
